mattheckerMatt has worked in the fitness industry and has been a personal trainer since 1991. Before starting Heckers’ Fitness, Matt managed several fitness facilities across the country. Locally, Matt served as the personal training manager at the Westview Healthplex Sports Club of Indianapolis for nearly four years. In this role he hired and trained a large personal training staff and gained experience matching individuals with personal trainers best suited to their personality and goals.

Fitness has been a way of life for Matt since he was seven years old and he has overcome many challenges. These challenges enable him to relate well with many as he has experienced much. For example, he never knew how to eat effectively growing up and learned many things the hard way. This is part of what started his passion for learning about how the body works and how he can help others so they do not make the same mistakes. Matt loves being of service to others and says “Fitness has done so much for my life and what better way to be of service to others than to increase their quality of life”.

Matt is a former Marine, a state wrestling champion, and a two-time state body building champion. He has lived all over the U.S., working with diverse populations ranging from young children to senior adults and various types of athletes such as endurance, sport specific, and body builders. He currently exercises on a regular basis, incorporating various types of cardiovascular activity with strength training and yoga.
